The Economics Column (Econlumn) is designed to promote the provision of relevant, accurate and timely evidence-based solutions to the society’s pressing problems, especially in the Sub-Saharan Africa. Therefore, we contribute to current economic debates through research, policy analyses and commentaries. We also provide tutorials to simplify Economics as a subject.
Econlumn was established in 2020 by a group of 9 accomplished economists drawn from Kenya and Uganda, who are studying at the University of Nairobi and the University of Dar es Salaam under the 2017 African Economic Research Consortium’s (AERC) Collaborative PhD Program. These economists identified the need to put their already acquired skills and expertise to stimulate better understanding of Economics and the management of economies. The members are rich with experiences gained from different careers and also have various specializations in Economics under the following areas; Environment and Natural Resource Economics, International Economics and Finance, Development Economics, Health Economics and Econometrics.
